Children's cancer charities

The Family Fund gives grants to lower income families with severely disabled children for things that make life easier and more enjoyable. The Fund helps with things to meet the additional needs of caring for a severely disabled child such as holidays, washing machines, computers and hospital visiting costs. All funding comes from the governments of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Parents or carers of severely disabled children can apply if

• Your child is 17yrs or under in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
• You have evidence of your entitlement to one the following: Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Income based Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Employment Support Allowance, Housing Benefit or Pension Credit
• You have permanent residency in the UK and have lived in the UK for at least six months (or 3 months if the application is for a child of less than 6 months old)

CLIC Sargent provides financial and other support for low income families with a child or young person up to the age of 24 receiving treatment for cancer, or palliative care. Anyone can apply as their grants are not means tested. Apply through a health professional or a CLIC Sargent social worker. They also have a holiday centre in Scotland and provide other support such as play specialists. Call the head office number for all queries, advice or help.
