A trial looking at pravastatin with chemotherapy for non small cell lung cancer (LungstarPK)
This trial was trying to find out more about having a statin drug at the same time as cisplatin and docetaxel for non small cell lung cancer.
Doctors use chemotherapy to treat advanced non small cell lung cancer. The chemotherapy drugs in this trial were two of the most commonly used.
Statins are medicines that people usually take to lower their cholesterol. We know from earlier research that they may also affect cancer cells. In this trial the researchers wanted to find out more about how a statin called pravastatin mixes with cisplatin and docetaxel.
The aims of the trial were to
- Learn more about how the statin drug interacts with the chemotherapy drugs in your body
- Find out about the side effects of having both treatments together
