Men and women discussing laryngeal cancerLarynx or laryngeal cancer (cancer of the voice box)

All about cancer of the larynx (voice box), including symptoms and causes, tests to diagnose laryngeal cancer, and treatment including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological therapy (cetuximab) and current research. Living with laryngeal cancer covers coping with your diagnosis, and managing after treatment with speech changes, breathing changes, diet issues and your sex life.

Throat cancer could mean cancer of the larynx, but is not a precise medical term. It may also mean other types of cancer, for example cancer of the food pipe (oesophagus) or thyroid cancer. Different cancers are treated differently, so you need to check which type of cancer your doctor means before you look for specific information.
